Penda is a citizen of Burthorpe who can be found alongside Hild inside a house just north of the Heroes' Guild. He is unattackable, like the other citizens of Burthorpe. He is involved in a clue scroll, where the player must pickpocket him to obtain a key. This can only be done while in possession of the relevant clue; attempting to pickpocket him any other time results in the message "You find nothing of value."

Treasure trails clue scroll [edit | edit source]

For the clue scroll: Go to the village being attacked by trolls, and search the drawers in one of the houses.

Go to Gaius' house in Burthorpe and search the drawers: "Wait till I get my hands on Penda, he's nicked the key again."

Go to Penda and Hild's house, just north of the Heroes' Guild, and pickpocket him to get the key.

Go back to Gaius' house and open the drawer with the key in inventory. The key disappears and you obtain another clue scroll or a reward.

Prior to 2 September 2019, Penda was attackable and had to be killed in order to get the key for his specific clue scroll step. He had a combat level of 4, 150 life points, and shared the same drops as regular men.
